**Description**
**Purpose of Role**
English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher. There will also be a responsibility for teaching Language B English. This role requires a passionate educator who is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students of all linguistic backgrounds achieve their full potential in English language acquisition.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- ** EAL Instruction**:
- Design and deliver EAL curriculum aligned with IB MYP standards, focusing on developing students' English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Assess students’ language proficiency levels and provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with mainstream teachers to support EAL students’ integration into the broader curriculum.
- Monitor and report on students' progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and staff.
- ** Language B English Instruction**:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons for Language B English, following the IB MYP framework.
- Develop and implement assessments that measure students’ progress in Language B English, ensuring alignment with IB MYP criteria.
- Foster a communicative and immersive learning environment to enhance students’ language acquisition and cultural understanding.
- ** General Duties**:
- Participate in regular meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning activities.
- Contribute to the school community by engaging in extracurricular activities, school events, and student mentorship.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Uphold the school’s values and mission, ensuring a high standard of teaching and learning.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Relevant Teaching certificate will be required.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP setting.
- Experience teaching EAL and/or Language B English at the middle school level.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

**Preferred Attributes**:
- Experience living or working in Vietnam or Southeast Asia.
- Familiarity with Vietnamese culture and language (though not required).
