Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.

**Job Purpose**
This position will be recruited for R&D on agronomy/rice straw management. In the first 3 years contract, he/she will be the project manager and key researcher to implement the activities under the MKCF-funded RiceEco project. This project aims to develop/ promote the rice straw biocircular economy for improved biodiversity and sustainability in Vietnam and Cambodia. The position will also assist the related activities on agronomy of IRRI in Vietnam and Cambodia. The specific job purpose are:

- Project manager of the MKCF-funded RiceEco project
- Support data collection and project M&E
- Capacity development

**This position will be based in Hanoi, Vietnam and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Vietnam.**

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Together with the Project Leader, proactively manage IRRI’s portfolio of the RiceEco project
- Support the Project Leader to enable the efficient and effective in-country implementation of the project, including national and international technical assistance, progress reviews with the donors, and any other functions as needed by IRRI HQ
- Establish and maintain project-based relationships with stakeholders and key partners to ensure that all planning, programing, operations & logistics, human resources, budgets & finance components of the projects are efficiently and effectively managed, in-line with the guidelines and regulations of investors, donors and IRRI HQ
- Participate in the selection, recruitment, guiding and mentoring of projects staff,
- providing HR support when needed
- Provide support in project planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, general management and oversight, and troubleshooting when needed.
- Support the project’s teams in donor communication, liaison and coordination with the investors, donors, local partners, government agencies and other related stakeholders
- Advocacy and engagement with local partners and local communities on project objectives, activities, and deliveries to leverage the projects’ outcomes and impacts
- Event and field trip management and oversight, logistics and approvals
- Work with the project teams in the development and dissemination of communication materials, documentations, social media posts, and mass media campaigns for knowledge sharing
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Projects Leader to ensure successful
- project implementation
- Monitor and collect data for the related experiments, field trials, and demonstrations
- Synthesize and verify quality of data and interpret research findings based on the defined objective
- Assist to develop guidelines, training materials on and provide capacity building for the related technologies/ practices (e.g. rice straw logistics, mushroom, composting, etc.)

**Qualifications**
- Master's Degree in Agronomy or any related fields with minimum of 6 years work experience
- PhD in Agronomy or any related fields with minimum of 3 years work experience

**Skills Required** Mandatory**
- Has experience in project leadership or management
- Rich profile on R&D development, peer-reviewed journal publications
