**POSITION PURPOSE**

This role is a position with 50% workload. That is, it is envisaged that the incumbent will work 50% in a related role at the University and 50% as a trainee Business Data Analyst. The purpose of the Business (Education) Data Analyst component is to begin Business Data Analytics related to specific departments within BUV (e.g. Marketing and sales; Academic performance and operations; VCO Strategy and university operations). As a Business (Education) Data Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing operationally pertinent data from various sources, identifying patterns, trends, and correlations, and translating them into actionable recommendations. By providing accurate and timely data-driven insights, you will help stakeholders across the University understand student performance, teaching quality, market dynamics, customer behavior, operational performance, and ultimately contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives. Your work will play a vital role in optimizing processes, improving efficiencies, identifying opportunities for innovation, and guiding business strategies based on empirical evidence.

**AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

Working under the supervision and guidance of a the Vice Chancellors Executive (VCE), and report directly to a relevant senior manager (TBA) you will be responsible for:

- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Collect, clean, and analyze data sets using statistical methods, data mining techniques, and visualization tools. Identify patterns, trends, and correlations to derive meaningful insights and translate them into actionable recommendations for business improvement.
- Reporting and Presentations: Develop and deliver clear, concise, and visually appealing reports and presentations to communicate data-driven insights to the University’s senior leadership. Present findings in a manner that is easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability by implementing quality control measures. Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, anomalies, and errors. Collaborate with relevant teams to maintain data hygiene and implement data governance best practices.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, heads of departments, departmental staff to define data requirements and identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making. Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, provide analytical support, and address their queries.
- Tools and Technologies: Utilize various data analysis tools, programming languages and statistical techniques to manipulate, analyze and report data effectively. Stay updated on emerging trends, advancements, and best practices in AI and data analytics to recommend appropriate tools for analysis.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance existing data analysis processes, methodologies, and frameworks. Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and streamline data workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
