**Job description**:
**About the Role**:
As a growing team, we need innovative and passionate Mid / Senior Backend Software Development Engineers to join our squads who will be a vital part of our engineering team, responsible for developing product features and collaborating with colleagues in design, product, and engineering. You will take ownership of writing automated tests for your production codes and work with cutting-edge technologies, focusing on tech stacks such as Ruby on Rails and ReactJS. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of products and features.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work on the technology roadmap with Product Owners, designing solutions with your squad, and new feature development, through to production, improving/optimizing and maintenance
- Perform tests and quality checks on your code - you own the quality and security of the code you create
- Take initiative in recommending improvements to the development process
- Perform peer reviews of code changes
- Maintain documentation and help articles for new/updated features
- Provide training sessions for the support team for new features
- Work closely with business stakeholders within an agile environment
- Mentoring junior members of the squad

**Your skills and experience**:
**_ To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:_**
- Experience as a Software Development Engineer, particularly for a cloud-based SaaS
- **Proficiency in Ruby programming language and Ruby frameworks such as Rails or Sinatra OR expertise in other OOP languages such as Python, TypeScript, Golang, Java etc.**_ (Willingness to learn our tech stack and collaborate with our team is essential.)_
- Experience in developing software, using microservices or SOA architecture for deployment on public clouds, preferably AWS
- Good understanding of database concepts and experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience using Agile methodologies and working with Product teams
- Quality coding practices, including test-driven development, unit testing and secure coding awareness
- English language abilities, both written and verbal - you’ll be working with people across the world, including from Australia

**_ Nice to have skills and experience (if you have these you’ll really stand out):_**
- Proficiency in Ruby programming language and Ruby frameworks such as Rails or Sinatra
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent.
- Have experience in mentoring team mates, or even leading a squad
- Experience in functional programming.
- Familiarity with AWS tooling and environments, including EC2, Kubernetes, etc.
